President's Notes
A Letter from the 2009 President
Hello Everyone,
My name is Scott Dennis and I have been elected the 2009 President of Down Syndrome Society of Mobile County. The board and I have hit the ground running during March with the Mark Tapia Basketball Tournament hosted by Corpus Christi School and Booster Club. This event was a fantastic success raising $2,225.63 for the organization. We thank Corpus Christ Booster Club, Danny Kelly and Mike Herrero for all they have done to make this event such a success.
The board and I will meet soon to discuss how we can successfully implement the programs on our list for 2009. The primary program is the Changing Lives Program. This program will communicate important information to physicians, hospitals and OBGYNs in regard to properly dealing with parents new to Down Syndrome. Laura and Dr. Alan Sherman have put many hours into building the foundation to get this program up and running. The very successful Buddy Walk in 2008 has given the group a financial boost to make the program a reality.
The date for our 2009 Buddy Walk has been set for October 10, 2009. Dora Harding, the Buddy Walk Chair, has begun the planning phase to make this years Buddy Walk and even greater success.
We have some ideas of activities that can strengthen group, but we need your help with ideas that YOU, as members, would like to have us work on. Please submit any ideas to info@dssmc.org.
Thank you for your support and for electing me you new President. Contact me anytime if you have questions or would just like to discuss the group.
Kind Regards,
Scott Dennis
President
Down Syndrome Society of Mobile County
